In Rochdale

Through close partnerships with youth and community groups, we play an active role in our hometown of Rochdale, named Greater Manchester Town of Culture for 2025/26. Creative arts projects are delivered in schools and a wide range of local community settings.

We’re always looking to work with local groups of young people, especially those who wouldn’t usually have access to theatre and arts related activity.

Recent projects have included:

  • Working in partnership with Community Arts North West and Hopwood Hall College to showcase the creativity and power of Rochdale Women’s Voices. Participants explored different art forms to create an exhibition which included photography, film, song and audio.
  • Theatre-based workshops with a group of young LGBTQIA+ people in partnership with The Proud Trust, focussing on transferable drama skills such as communication, teamwork and problem solving to enable young people to build confidence and share their stories.
  • Working with Rochdale Children’s Literature Festival and pupils from Falinge Park High School to create a performance about the history of the newly refurbished Town Hall at Rochdale Library.
  • A drama project with Army of Kindness food bank for young new arrivals
  • Cultural partner in the Comino Poet in Residence Project, connecting schools with poets and arts organisations to create poetry for young people.

Partnerships

With our hometown of Rochdale being granted Priority Place status by Arts Council England, we have played an active role in the partnerships, initiatives and programmes emerging in the borough – engaging with new audiences, new partners and new places across the town.

We are a proud member of:

  • Create Rochdale – Rochdale’s Local Cultural Education Partnership
  • Rochdale’s Cultural Compact
  • Rochdale Borough Culture Network

More information can be found on the Rochdale Creates website.

Subsidies and Bursaries

We ensure that theatre remains as accessible as possible; through free and subsidised rates for schools, pay-what-you-feel performances in our Studio Theatre, bursaries for Youth Theatre participants and free performances across Rochdale borough.

See our shows page for upcoming pay-what-you-feel performances at M6 Studio.
