Summer Update from M6 Theatre
Youth Theatre
As our youth theatre participants collect their Creative Care and Get Creative at Home packs from M6 Studio this week, we hope the contents will inspire them to unlock their artistic potential this summer. The packs are the result of new collaborative working partnerships across Greater Manchester and within Rochdale Borough and we're very proud to have contributed to this new initiative. We're looking forward to sharing their creative endeavours with you in the autumn! We also may still need to host our youth theatre sessions online for a while, but we hope to welcome our local young creatives back as soon as it is safe to do so as their vitality and enthusiasm is sorely missed.
Productions
Whilst we can't tour live theatre productions in the autumn, we will be filming a brand new play to share with children in school, family and community settings. When We Started Singing by Mike Peacock is the story of Mr Popple and his acts of kindness and creativity that transform isolated houses into a new community during lockdown. The film, activity pack and song will be available for everyone to access, free of charge, thanks to funding from Arts Council England, RBC Early Help and Schools and National Linking Schools. We are also developing bespoke online workshops for our local Linking Schools partners and hatching plans for a virtual choir!
Touring
When we're able to tour again, we'll start with our small but perfectly formed show The Street Where I Live at M6 Studio and in schools and community settings around Rochdale. The audience sizes may have to be smaller to keep everyone safe, but we will aim for the experience to be no less memorable, moving and positive.
