Summer Participation Projects
It’s been a busy summer in the participation department!
We started with a project for the young people on our youth theatre waiting lists. With only a few places available each year, we wanted to make sure that we creatively engaged those on the list.
Each age group devised and performed a play in 2.5 days, based around the props provided which included lots of suitcases. The Year 7-10 group created a heartfelt piece around leaving home, travelling and missing your loved ones, while the Year 4-6 group created a comic piece about getting your luggage mixed up at an airport. The team then worked with a small group of current youth theatre members to create a bespoke performance on the theme of belonging for the Side by Side Festival. The group developed a short play about a lost and found shop trying to reunite people with their sense of self, confidence, motivation, joy and sense of belonging. The performances at the festival were a great success!
Finally, we invited some young people to join us for a 50th birthday consultation. The session focused on developing themes for the special youth theatre performance next year in celebration of M6’s 50th Birthday. The young people explored M6’s past and present and looked forward to the future.
